About Us

At All Saints, Thornton Hough, we honour Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, and we are seeking to know God better and make Him known.

We welcome people from all walks of life and from diverse locations. Our regular members come from the villages of Thornton Hough, Raby, Brimstage, and Raby Mere, which are in the parish, as well as surrounding areas including Heswall, Neston, Willaston, Poulton Lancelyn and Bromborough. We try our best to be a friendly church, and enjoy meeting people over refreshments after the services. We are used to newcomers and occasional visitors, so if you join us for the first time you shouldn’t feel too conspicuous!

If you join us, we hope that you will find a friendly smile, and a reverent service of worship in which God’s presence is near, His Word is honoured, and His grace is at work.

Some of our distinctive characteristics are:
> Music. We have a choir and organist at two services each Sunday, who bring an added vibrancy to our worship, with a good range of traditional and modern songs being sung.
> Involvement. We are an active parish with several different groups running through the month, including a midweek lunch, a Bible study group, a toddler group, a games club and a coffee morning with raffle!
> Community links. We enjoy a good relationship with our Christian brothers and sisters at St George’s URC church just over the road and share services and events on a regular basis. We have many congregation members who are involved in community life and we try to make a very positive contribution to life in Thornton Hough and surrounding areas.
> Picturesque setting. Thornton Hough is a beautiful, and historically interesting village, and our buildings are no exception. It is a delightful and uplifting setting in which to worship God.

More information about the history and architecture is available here.

We welcome people with all kinds of particular needs, and we will do our best to meet those needs. We enjoy having children in our services. We have made a space in the midst where people in wheelchairs or in buggies can have space to sit without being stuck at the back. We really want to become more inclusive and are particularly thinking about how we can do more for young families.

In summer 2009 we welcomed our new vicar, so we are in the process of looking to the future and considering what new things God may have in store for us. Perhaps this future may include you!
