Choir

All Saints' Church has a strong choral tradition. It has a friendly and enthusiastic Choir with considerable experience, which is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music. We strive to attain the highest possible standards of church music. Over the years many of our choristers have successful achieved the Junior and Senior Bishop's and Dean's Awards.

Music has always been an integral part of the Anglican worship and the beauty of the English Church Music is part of our national heritage.  Sadly that glorious Anglican choral tradition is presently under serious threat particularly at Parish level.  Here at All Saints' we seek to play our small part in preserving the fine tradition of beautiful church music.

On every third Sunday, for six months of the year from September to November and January to March the choir sings a full 1662 Prayer Book Choral Evensong.  We are regularly invited to sing Choral Evensong at Chester Cathedral.  Perform concerts both for our own church and for outside charity events.  We also have the honour of performing at the annual Diocesan Choral Festival in Chester Cathedral once a year.

Anthems are sung at all services. Services cover the whole spectrum - Mattins, Evensongs and Holy Communion (equally spread between the Prayer Book and Alternative Service Book).  We have a wide repertoire which includes Anthems from all periods of church music, composers include: Tye, Tallis, Handel, Attwood, Goss, Stainer,Wesley, Standford, Wood, Rutter and Shephard to name but a few!  In addition we have: Cantatas, Choral Settings for Canticles and Holy Communion.  A "Passiontide Canatata" is also sung every Palm Sunday and the Christmas Services include the full traditional "Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols".

As you can see from above our concepts are to preserve the traditions of church music.  We believe we have a warm friendly social group and are always willing to accept new members.

The Choir meets for practice every Friday evening in the Church at 7.00pm. Membership of the Choir is open to boys and girls aged 8 years and upwards, and to adults. If you are interested in joining the Choir, or would like to know more, please come along to the church or alternatively contact Mr I Stinson via the parish office.
